BOTOX® Specialist
Botox for Migraine vs Cosmetic Botox: What’s the Difference?
Botox is FDA-approved for patients with chronic migraine. In this setting, the goal is neurological regulation rather than cosmetic change.
Botox works by reducing the release of pain-signaling neurotransmitters and decreasing muscle activation that contributes to migraine patterns. Treatment follows a structured protocol with injections placed across the forehead, temples, scalp, neck, and shoulders based on known migraine pain pathways.
Many patients experience fewer headache days, less severe attacks, and improved day-to-day functioning over time. The purpose of treatment is straightforward: better migraine control and more predictable quality of life.
BOTOX® for Chronic Migraine
In aesthetic medicine, Botox is used to soften expression lines caused by repeated muscle movement. Treatment focuses on selectively relaxing targeted facial muscles while preserving natural expression.
Common areas include the forehead, the lines between the brows, and the outer corners of the eyes. Dosing and placement are tailored to facial anatomy, muscle strength, and the patient’s goals.
Here, success is measured by subtle, natural results that allow patients to look rested rather than noticeably treated.
BOTOX® Cosmetic
Most clinicians focus primarily on either therapeutic Botox or aesthetic injections. Providers experienced in both are less common.
Training in migraine treatment builds an understanding of nerve pathways, functional muscle patterns, and the relationship between head and neck musculature. Training in aesthetics develops expertise in symmetry, balance, and preserving natural facial movement.
